
Trojans fall to Iowa Central, 16-5
FORT DODGE - The NIACC baseball team bowed out of the NJCAA Region 11 tournament Friday night with a 16-5 loss in six innings to Iowa Central at Harlan Rogers Park.
Iowa Central (46-12) pounded out 13 hits to score its 16 runs. The Tritons jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three innings.
NIACC (24-32) cut the Iowa Central lead in half with five runs in the fourth inning.
In the Trojans' fourth inning, Tyler Froland drove in a run with a double, Carter Dalton plated a run with a single, Charlie Harms collected an RBI wih a sacrifice fly and Darcy Barry hit a two-run home run.
But that would be as close as the Trojans would get as the Tritons scored the final six runs of the contest with four runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning.
NIACC received two hits from Sam Kwapnioski.
Iowa Central advances to play top-seed Kirkwood at 11 a.m. Saturday in an elimination contest.
