CHANUTE, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Neosho County CC on Saturday.
Neosho County CC won the opener 3-2 in eight innings and the Trojans dropped the second contest 10-4.
In the first game, Neosho County CC's Chayse Gruber gained the complete-game victory. He allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
Neosho County CC scored two runs in the sixth inning and walked off the Trojans with a single run in the eighth inning. NiACC pushed across single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
NIACC's Isaac Huettl was 2 for 4, including his second home run of the season. Caden Sammler plated the Trojans' other run.
NIACC redshirt sophomore right-hander Austin Klug struck out eight and walked one in 5 2/3 innings of work. Klug allowed two runs on four hits.
In the second game, Neosho County CC scored two runs in the third inning, five runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth frame.
NIACC scored two runs in the first innng and scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
NIACC's Eli Anderson collected two hits, including his first home run of the season. The Trojans' Sam Kwapnioski had two hits, including a double.
NIACC starter Trevor Hamil struck out six and walked two batters in three innings of work. Hamil allowed two runs on two hits.
NIACC (5-4) and Neosho County CC wrap up their four-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch for the opener is set for 1 p.m.
