
NIACC rolls past Minnesota North-Hibbing, 27-7

CLARION - The NIACC baseball team rolled to a 27-7 victory over Minnesota North College-Hibbing in seven innings Sunday afternoon at the Clarion-Goldfield/Dows field.
NIACC, which scored 37 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Minnesota North-Hibbing on Saturday, pounded out a season-high 22 hits, including seven extra base hits, to claim the 20-run victory. The 22 hits is tied for the ninth most in a single game since the 2013 season.
The 27 runs is the fourth most runs in a single game since the 2013 season. It is the second most runs scored in the Josh Merrill, whose team topped Marshalltown CC 28-6 on April 8, 2023.
In Sunday's victory, NIACC's Isaac Huettl was 5 for 5, including two doubles, with four runs scored, four RBIs and two stolen bases. Huettl is the 11th player since 2013, including Charlie Harms earlier this season, to collect five hits in a single game.
The Trojans' Trey Stocker was 4 for 4, including a double, with six RBIs and four runs scored. The six RBIs is the most in a game since Adam Berghult plated six runs against Ellsworth on March 23, 2023.
Also for the Trojans, Eili Anderson was 3 for 4, including a double and a triple, with a career-high five RBIs and a career-best four runs scored. Darcy Barry was 3 for 4, including a double, with five runs scored and three RBIs.
NIACC's Zach Dohrmann (2-1) gained the win on the mound. Dohrmann did not allow a hit or a run with five strikeouts and no walks in three innings of work.
NIACC (8-9) returns to action in a three-game series at LSU-Eunice with single games March 15-17.
