NIACC stays alive with 6-2 win
FORT DODGE - The NIACC baseball team stayed alive in the NJCAA Region 11 tournament with a 6-2 10-inning victory over Northeast CC Thursday night at Harlan Rogers Park.
NIACC's Alex Matchey drove in Trey Stocker with the go-ahead run with single in the 10th inning and Darcy Barry drove in three runs with a triple off the right-field wall to give the Trojans a four-run lead.
The extra-inning win by the Trojans was their first extra inning contest in the regional tournament since they topped Iowa Central 9-6 in 10 innings in the 2015 regional tournament.
The four-run 10th inning made a winner of out of Mason Stroh (3-1), who allowed one run on three hits in 3/1 innings of work with six strikeouts and two walks.
NIACC's John Skoro pitched a scoreless 10th inning to move the Trojans into Friday night's elimination game at 6 p.m. The Trojans (24-31) face either Southeastern, Iowa Central or DMACC in the elimination contest.
