CEDAR RAPIDS - The NIACC baseball team dropped an ICCAC twinbill Wednesday afternoon to No. 8 Kirkwood on the Kirkwood campus.
Kirkwood won the first game 12-2 in five innings and won the second game 8-5.
In the first game, Kirkwood (39-13 overall, 20-10 in the ICCAC) scored six runs in the first inning, plated three runs in the second frame and scored three insurance runs in the fifth inning.
NIACC (20-30, 12-18) scored a single run in the fourth inning and Eli Anderson hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. It was Anderson's third home run of the season.
Anderson and Sam Kwapnioski both had two hits for the Trojans.
In the second game, NIACC trailed 5-1 after four innings but the Trojans tied the contest with four runs in the fifth inning. The big hit was a three-run home run from Kwapnioski.
Kirkwood scored two runs in the seventh inning and added a single run in the eighth inning.
Five Kirkwood pitchers held the Trojans to four hits - two from Anderson.
NIACC returns to action Friday with an ICCAC doubleheader against Iowa Lakes at Roosevelt Field in Mason City. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
