NIACC faces No. 4 Iowa Central in tourney opener
FORT DODGE - The NIACC baseball team begins NJCAA Region 11 tournament play against Iowa Central at Harlan Rogers Park.
Game time Thursday is set for 2:30 p.m.
NIACC (23-30) enters the six-team regional tournament as the No. 6 seed. Iowa Central, which is ranked fourth in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, earned the third-seed for the regional tournament.
No. 6 Kirkwood (42-13) is the top seed for the regional tournament and No. 10 Southeastern (41-15) is the No. 2 seed. Kirkwood and Southeastern received first-round byes and don't play until Friday.
Iowa Central won the three-game series against NIACC, 2-1. Iowa Central won 5-4 and 10-6 and the Trojans claimed a 8-6 victory.
The winner of the NIACC/Iowa Central game faces Southeastern at 11 a.m. Friday. The NIACC/Iowa Central loser plays the Northeast CC/DMACC loser at 6 p.m. Thursday.
