
NIACC stops Three Rivers CC, 6-4
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The NIACC baseball team improved to 4-1 on Saturday with a 6-4 victory over Three Rivers CC.
NIACC, which won three out of four games last weekend against Allen County CC, scored all six of its runs in the fourth inning of Saturday's nine-inning contest. Sophomore Eli Anderson and redshirt freshman Charlie Harms both drove in two runs in the crucial fourth inning.
Anderson, Harms and Trey Stocker all had three hits for the Trojans, who collected 12 hits on the day.
Three Rivers CC scored two runs in the third inning and single runs in the fifth and eighth innings.
Redshirt Sophomore right-hander Austin Klug gained the win on the mound for the Trojans. Klug (1-0) allowed three runs on five hits with a career-high nine strikouts and two walks in five innings of work. Klug's previous high strikeout total was six against Northeast CC on April 24, 2023.
Freshman right-hander John Skoro gained his first career save by pitching the eighth and ninth innings. He allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
NIACC returns to action Sunday with a doubleheader against Three Rivers CC. The first game is set to start at noon.
Notes: Anderson is hitting .571 with five doubles, five runs scored and eight RBIs ... Harms is hitting .400 with three doubles, eight runs scored and three RBIs ... Klug has 14 strikouts this season and 52 career strikouts.
