MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 11-6 decision to No. 7 Southeastern CC in an ICCAC contest at Roosevelt Field Sunday afternoon.
Designated hitter Isaac Huettl hit a solo home run in the eighth inning as the Trojans rallied to tie the contest at 6-6. Sam Kwapnioski homered earlier in the inning to trim the deficit to 6-5.
Southeastern, however, scored five runs in its half of the ninth inning, including home runs from Sam Skarich, Marcus Beatty and Abrahan Rios.
Southeastern (30-9 overall, 14-4 in the ICCAC) swept the three-game series from the Trojans. The Blackhawks topped the Trojans 1-0 and 12-6 in Saturday's twinbill.
The Blackhawks hit a total of six home runs on Sunday. Caleb Wulf and Kooper Schulte hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning and Brandon Vlcko hit one in the sixth inning.
NIACC's Eli Anderson hit a two-run home run in the third inning.
NIACC (14-24, 6-12) returns to action Monday in an ICCAC contest against Indian Hills at Roosevelt Field. The single nine-inning contest starts at 2 p.m.
