COUNCIL BLUFFS - The NIACC baseball team dropped an ICCAC twinbill Friday to Iowa Western.
Iowa Western won the first game 8-1 and took the second game 2-0. The No. 4 (NJCAA Division I) Reivers improved to 21-5 overall and 4-0 in the league.
In the first game, Iowa Western scored four runs in the first inning. The Reivers also added two runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and sixth frames.
NIACC (9-15 overall, 1-3 in the ICCAC) pushed across a single run in the first inning.
NIACC's Trey Stocker was 2 for 3, including a double, and scored the team's lone run. Payton Fort also doubled for the Trojans.
In the second game, Iowa Western scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
NIACC starter Zach Dohrmann, a sophomore right-hander, allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work. Dohrmann (2-3) struck out one and walked two.
NIACC's Ethen Roberts tossed two innings of scoreless relief. The freshman right-hander did not allow a hit with four strikeouts and no walks.
NIACC was held to three hits in the second game - singles from Stocker, Isaac Huettl and Will Couchman.
The two teams will wrap up their 3-game series Saturday with a nine-inning single game.
