
NIACC men land 2 on all-ICCAC 1st team
MASON CITY - For the second straight season, NIACC's Quentin Hardrict and Deundra Roberson were selected to the all-ICCAC first team.
NIACC sophomore Wendell Matthews earned second-team all-league honors and sophomores James Harris and Trey Sampson were honorable mention all-league selections.
Matthews was also a second-team pick as a freshman and Harris was a second-team selection a year ago.
NIACC, which tied the men's single-season for wins record with a mark of 25-7, advanced to the NJCAA Region XI title game for the second straight season. The Trojans dropped an 82-80 decision to DMACC in last Saturday's regional title game in Boone.
Kirkwood's Luke Appel and Iowa Lakes' Justin Brookens shared ICCAC player of the year honors. DMACC's Josh Sash was selected as the ICCAC coach of the year.
Roberson, who is sixth on the school's career scoring list with 1,064 career points, averaged 20.7 points per game to lead the Trojans in scoring. Roberson, who made 32 3-point goals, also collected 131 rebounds with 83 assists and 76 steals.
Hardrict, who ranks fourth on the school's career assist list with 300, averaged 16.9 points per game with 139 assists and 33 steals.
Matthews averaged 16.1 points per game with 244 rebounds and 46 blocked shots. He ranks 14th on the school's career scoring list with 965 points and ranks 10th on the school's career rebounding list with 493.
Harris averaged 13.9 points per game. He led the team with 49 3-point goals and also collected 139 rebounds with 87 assists and 37 steals.
Sampson averaged 15.5 points per game with 241 rebounds and a team-high 61 blocked shots.
