Harris powers NIACC past Iowa Central, 87-80
MASON CITY - Sophomore James Harris scored a career-high 28 points, including eight 3-point goals, to lift No. 13 NIACC to a 87-80 victory over Iowa Central in an ICCAC men's basketball contest Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
Harris, whose previous career-high was 25 points against Northeast CC earlier this season, was eight of 12 from 3-point range, which tied the single-game record for 3-point goals in a contest. Harris tied the mark set by Mike Eckenrod, who made eight 3-point goals against Waldorf in the 1987-88 season.
Harris also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out two assists.
Also for NIACC, sophomore Quentin Hardrict scored 22 points with five assists. Wendell Matthews scored 14 points with 13 rebounds and Jaden Horton scored 12 points.
The double/double by Matthews was the seventh of the season for the sophomore post and 15th of his career.
