
NIACC men selected as NABC team of the week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ohio State University, Dallas Baptist University, The College of Wooster, Indiana Institute of Technology and NIACC have been selected as the NABC Teams of the Week for week No. 4 of the 2019-20 season.
NCAA Division I – Ohio State
Head Coach: Chris Holtmann
The Buckeyes remain unbeaten at 9-0 featuring two wins by large margins. This week OSU downed North Carolina 74-49 in Chapel Hill and had a 106-74 win at home against Penn State to move to #2 in the weekly USA Today sports men's basketball poll.
NCAA Division II – Dallas Baptist
Head Coach: Dr. Blake Flickner
DBU picked up a pair of crucial road conference wins with overtime victories against Lubbock Christian and Angelo State. The Patriots knocked off previously unbeaten Angelo State. which is receiving votes in the NABC Top 25. In the win over ASU, DBU shot a perfect 3-3 from the floor in overtime and nearly 52 percent in the game.
NCAA Division III – Wooster
Head Coach: Steve Moore
Wooster senior Danyon Hempy drained a 15-foot jumper from the wing with 5.1 seconds left to lift the Fighting Scots to a 62-61 win at Allegheny on Wednesday. Wooster also defeated Wabash, which was receiving national votes last week, 79-74 on Saturday.
NAIA – Indiana Tech
Head Coach: Ted Albert
Indiana Tech toppled No. 9 Madonna (Mich.) 82-67 at home and followed with a 76-75 squeaker over Siena Heights (Mich.) 76-75 on the road. The Warriors averaged 50.7% from the field, including 54.75% from 3-point range in the two wins to move into a tie for third place in the conference at one game back.
NJCAA/Two-Year Colleges – North Iowa Area Community College
Head Coach: Mark Mohl
NIACC continued its hot start to the season last week. In its early season conference opener, the Trojans handled Southwestern on the road winning 96-68. NIACC with the win has attained a No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA Division II polls after an unblemished 11-0 start.
