
NIACC men ranked 12th in final poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team is ranked No. 12 in the final NJCAA Division II poll released Monday.
NIACC (23-6) was ranked 14th in the Feb. 24 poll. The Trojans, who were ranked No. 1 in the Dec. 9 poll, was ranked in all 16 polls this season.
NIACC, which earned the fourth seed for the NJCAA Region XI tournament, topped Little Priest Tribal College 100-86 and Southwestern 94-76 last week to close out the regular season.
The 23 wins in the regular season by NIACC is tied for the most in school history. NIACC was 23-6 in the 1978-79 regular season and 23-4 in the 2018-19 regular season.
DMACC (26-4) is ranked fifth, Kirkwood (23-5) is ranked ninth and Iowa Lakes (25-5) is ranked 10th.
NIACC begins NJCAA Region XI tournament play at home against Southwestern on Tuesday. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
