
NIACC men fall to DMACC, 77-69
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 77-69 decision to DMACC on Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
DMACC led 34-28 at the half and the Bears outcored the Trojans 43-41 in the second 20 minutes to claim the eight-point victory.
No. 7 DMACC (20-3 overall, 7-1 in the ICCAC) was led by sophomore Zach Lester with 22 points. Ryan Schmitt was next in line for the Bears with 18 points.
NIACC (17-5, 4-4) was led by sophomore Wendell Matthews with 19 points and 16 rebounds. It was Matthews' ninth double/double of the season and 17th of his career.
Sophomore James Harris scored 13 points and sophomore Quentin Hardrict scored 12 points.
Also for NIACC, Deundra Roberson scored eight points and collected five rebounds. Chandler Dean scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Lakes in an ICCAC contest. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
