Spotts, Miller lead Trojans past Marshalltown CC
MASON CITY - Freshman Reggi Spotts scored 20 points and Tori Miller scored 18 points to lead the NIACC women's basketball team to a 80-36 victory over Marshalltown CC Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC led 23-9 aftter the first quarter and pushed its lead to 42-17 at the half as the Trojans topped the Tigers for the ninth straight time.
Spotts, who prepped at Mason City High, also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. It is the third time this season that Spotts has scored at least 20 points in a game.
Miller, who is from Goodhue, Minn., dished out a game-high eight assists with six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Keeley Steele scored 12 points with five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Sophomore Karly Holm scored nine points with a career-best six assists, three rebounds and two steals.
NIACC, which has won three straight games, improved its overall record to 15-4 and 6-3 in the ICCAC.
The Trojans return to action Wednesday at Southwestern CC in an ICCAC contest. Game time in Creston is slated for 5:30 p.m.
