
No. 10 Trojans stop Elgin CC, 92-72
MASON CITY - Sophomore Tori Miller scored a career-high 28 points to lead the No. 10 NIACC women's basketball team to a 92-72 victory Saturday afternoon at the Konigsmark Klassic.
Miller, who is from Goodhue, Minn., was 12 of 15 from the field and 4 of 9 from the free throw line. Miller also had seven rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Miller's previous career high was 26 points last season against the Graceland University Junior Varsity on Nov. 20, 2023.
Next in line for the Trojans was sophomore Sonya Potthoff with a career-high 20 points. Potthoff also had five rebounds and five assists.
With Miller scoring 28 points and Potthoff scoring 20 points, it is the first time since Jan. 24, 2024 that two NIACC players both scored at least 20 points in a game when Madison Hillman (21) and Miller 20 pulled off the feat in an ICCAC game against Ellsworth.
Potthoff's previous career high was 14 points against Minnesota North-Itasca on Nov. 11, 2023.
Also for the Trojans, Keeley Steele scored 10 points with five rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocked shots. Alexis Schroeder scored seven points with six rebounds, three steals and two assists.
NIACC's Reggi Spotts scored five points with six assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
NIACC (2-0 overall) returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the NDSCS AmericaInn Classic in Wahpeton, N.D. The Trojans play host NDSCS on Friday and Minnesota North College-Itasca on Saturday.
