
NIACC's Spotts earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - For the fifth time this season, a NIACC women's basketball player has been selected as the ICCAC Division II player of the week.
NIACC freshman Reggi Spotts, who is from Nora Springs and played at Mason City High School, earned the award for the week of Dec. 9-15.
Other Trojans to win the award this season are Alexis Schroeder twice (Nov. 18-24, Dec. 2-8), Sonya Potthoff (Nov. 11-17) and Tori Miller (Oct. 28-Nov. 3).
Spotts helped lead the No. 15 Trojans to three wins last week over Southwestern CC and Lake Region State College twice.
Against Southwestern, Spotts scored seven points with six rebounds.
In the first win over Lake Region State College, Spotts scored a career-high 23 points with nine rebounds in a 59-51 victory.
In the second win over Lake Region State College, Spotts recorded a double/double with 20 points and a career-best 13 rebounds.
Spotts is averaging 12.0 points per game through the Trojans' first 14 games this season.
Spotts leads the ICCAC and ranks 12th in NJCAA Division II with 48 steals. She is shooting 84.9 percent from the free-throw line, which ranks second in the ICCAC and 11th in NJCAA Division II of players with a minimum of 25 attempts.
NIACC (12-2 overall, 3-1 in ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against No. 1 Kirkwood on Kelcie Hale Night. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
