NIACC's Potthoff earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore guard Sonya Potthoff was selected as the ICCAC Division II women's basketball player of the week for the week of Nov. 11-17.
Potthoff, who is from Mahtomedi, Minn., scored a career-high 22 points with six assists, two steals and one rebound in the No. 11 Trojans' 120-40 win over Minnesota North College-Vermilion last Saturday night in the NIACC gym.
Potthoff was 9 of 14 from the field and hit on 4 of 5 three-point attempts as the Trojans improved to 4-1 on the young season.
Potthoff averages 12.2 points per contest, which ranks second on the team. She is 7 of 15 from 3-point range (46.7 percent).
It is the second time this season that a NIACC women's basketball player has been honored as the ICCAC player of the week. Sophomore Tori Miller was the league's player of the week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home in a non-conference contest against the Waldorf University Junior Varsity. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5 p.m.
