
NIACC's Steele earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore Keeley Steele has been selected as the ICCAC Division II women's basketball player of the week for the week of Jan. 6-12.
Steele, a 5-foot-8 inch guard from Stewartville, Minn., shared the weekly award with Kirkwood's Jenna Twedt and Ellsworth's Taylor Ross.
It is the sixth time this season that a NIACC women's basketball player has been honored by the ICCAC.
The Trojans' Reggi Spotts won the award for the week of Dec. 9-15, Alexis Schroeder won the award twice (Nov. 18-24, Dec. 2-8), Sonya Potthoff won the award for the week of Nov. 11-17 and Tori Miller won the award for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
Steele scored 21 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win over Iowa Central. She also scored 16 points with seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block in a win over Iowa Western.
Steele, who averages 11.9 points per game, leads the ICCAC with 77 assists. She also averages 7.2 rebounds per game and has 27 three-pointers made.
NIACC (14-4 overall, 5-3 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday at home against Marshalltown CC (11-6, 3-4) in an ICCAC contest. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
