NIACC's Schroeder earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY - For the fourth time this season, a NIACC women's basketball player has been selected as the ICCAC Division II player of the week.
NIACC's Alexis Schroeder earned the honor for the week of Dec. 2-8. Schroeder, who is from Caledonia, Minn., also won the award for the week of Nov. 18-24.
Other Trojans to win the award this season are Tori Miller for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3 and Sonya Potthoff for the week of Nov. 11-17.
Schroeder scored a career-high 41 points in the Trojans' 109-84 win over Iowa Lakes on Dec. 4. She was 10 of 12 from 3-point range against the Lakers.
The 41 points, which is tied for 13th on the school's single-game scoring list, was the most in a game for a NIACC women's basketball player since Autam Mendez scored 48 points against Little Priest Tribal College in February of 2020.
Schroeder injured her knee early in Saturday's victory over Northeast CC and did not return.
Schroeder has 98 career 3-point goals, which ranks 13th on the school's career 3-point list.
No. 16 NIACC (9-2 overall, 2-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against Southwestern CC in an ICCAC contest. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
