NIACC's Olive selected league's offensive player of year
MASON CITY - For the second straight season, a NIACC softball player has been selected as the ICCAC Division II softball offensive player of the year.
NIACC sophomore shortstop Katy Olive has been named the league's 2024 offensive player of the year. The 2023 top offensive player in the ICCAC was the Trojans' Laken Lienhard.
Olive, who was a first-team all-region selection as an infielder, hit .472 with 27 home runs and 20 doubles while collecting 81 RBIs and stealing 70 bases. She collected 92 hits and scored 95 runs.
Olive set single-season school records in 2024 with her 92 hits, 95 runs scored, 81 RBIs and 70 stolen bases.
NIACC sophomore Madisyn Kelley was a first-team all-region selection as a catcher. The Trojans' Izzy Sloan, a freshman right-hander, was selected as a first-team pitcher and sophomore Emily Jones was a first-team infielder.
Kelley hit .490 with 23 home runs (2nd on school's single-season list), 10 doubles and 67 RBIs (3rd on school's single-season list). Kelley collected 73 hits and scored 56 runs.
Sloan (11-7) recorded 115 strikeouts with 49 walks with a 3.20 earned run average in 89 2/3 innings pitched. Sloan was 9-3 with four shutouts in ICCAC games with a 2.15 ERA in 68 1/3 innings pitched.
Jones hit .436 with 16 home runs, 21 doubles and 54 RBIs. Jones collected 75 hits and scored 58 runs. Jones was also a first-team all-region selection as an infielder in her freshman sesaon.
NIACC's Macy Kellar, a freshman right-hander, was an honorable mention pick as a pitcher and freshman Madisyn Bauer was an honorable mention selection as an infielder.
Kellar (16-6) recorded 146 strikeouts with 34 walks with a 3.84 ERA. She was 7-3 in league games with a 4.85 ERA in 52 innings pitched.
Bauer hit .328 with 14 home runs, 10 doubles and 47 RBIs. Bauer collected 58 hits and scored 47 runs.
