ESTHERVILLE - The NIACC softball team swept an ICCAC doubleheader from Iowa Lakes Wednesday.
NIACC won the first game 15-2 in six innings and took the second game 21-4 in five innings.
In the first game, the Trojans pounded out 15 hits, including six for extra bases. Sophomore Madisyn Kelley, who was last week's NJCAA Division II and ICCAC player of the week, was 3 for 4, including two home runs, with three RBIs.
The Trojans also received a home run from Emily Jones.
Freshman right-hander Izzy Sloan (6-1) gained the win in the circle for the Trojans. Sloan allowed two earned runs on two hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
In the second game, freshman right-hander Macy Kellar (10-4) struck out 10 in five innings to gain the win for NIACC. She allowed four runs on four hits in five innings of work.
Offensviely for the Trojans, Madisyn Bauer hit three home runs with seven RBIs. It is the second time in the last five days that a NIACC player drove in seven runs in a game as Madi Elwood plated seven runs in first game of doubleheader against Northeast CC on April 6.
Katy Olive and Kelley also homered for the Trojans.
Olive, Bauer, Sloan and Vanessa Koehler all had multiple hits.
NIACC (20-14 overall, 9-3 in the league) returns to action Thursday with a non-league doubleheader at Indian Hills in Ottumwa. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
