
NIACC softball team ranked 19th
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team returned to the NJCAA Division II rankings at No. 19 on Monday.
NIACC (29-17 overall, 18-4 in the ICCAC) was ranked 14th in the preseason poll on Jan. 22 and was ranked 15th in the Feb. 26 poll.
NIACC has won seven straight contests heading into Wednesday's home doubleheader against Hawkeye CC. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m. on the NIACC campus.
Parkland is ranked No. 1 in the latest poll and Copiah-Lincoln CC is ranked No. 2.
Kirkwood (40-10) is ranked seventh and DMACC (36-8) is ranked ninth.
After Wednesday's home doubleheader, NIACC wraps up its regular season at home on Saturday and Sunday with doubleheaders against Kirkwood and Iowa Central. The NJCAA Region 11 tournament begins on May 3.
Kirkwood leads the ICCAC with a record of 21-1. DMACC sits in second place with a record of 19-3 and NIACC is in third with its record of 18-4.
The top two seeds host the NJCAA Region 11-A and NJCAA Region 11-B tournaments beginning on May 3.
