
NIACC's Olive earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY – For the third time this season, NIACC sophomore Katy Olive has been selected as the ICCAC Division II softball player of the week for the week of April 15-21.
Olive also earned the league's weekly honor for the week of March 7-11 and March 25-31.
Olive hit .500 (10 for 20) with 12 RBIs, scored 12 runs, stole seven bases and hit three home runs as the Trojans were a perfect 6-0.
Olive is tied for the NJCAA Division II lead with 23 home runs and leads the nation with 60 stolen baes. Olive, who has 70 RBIs, is hitting .491.
No. 19 NIACC (29-17 overall, 18-4 in the ICCAC) returns to action at home Wednesday against Hawkeye CC on the NIACC campus. The first game starts at 2 p.m.
After Wednesday's twinbill, NIACC wraps up its regular season at home on Saturday and Sunday with doubleheaders against Kirkwood and Iowa Central. The NJCAA Region 11 tournament begins on May 3.
