OTTUMWA - The NIACC softball team dropped a non-league twinbill to Indian Hills on Thursday.
Indian Hills won the opener 9-1 and took the second game 7-4.
In the first game, Indian Hills (23-15) did not score in the first inning but scored one run in the second, three runs in the third and fourth and two runs in the fifth frame.
NIACC pushed across a single run in the fourth inning with a RBI double from sophomore Emily Jones. Katy Olive singled for the Trojans' only other hit in the opener.
Indian Hills' Sara Reid struck out seven and walked two batters to gain the win.
NIACC's Izzy Sloan (6-2) allowed nine runs (six earned) on eight hits while striking out two and walking one.
In the second game, the Warriors completed the sweep by pounding out 12 hits to score their seven runs. They scored three runs in the first frame and added two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.
NIACC scored three runs in the sixth inning and pushed across a single run in the seventh inning.
Jones hit a 2-run homer in the sixth inning. It was Jones' 24th career home run, which is tied for third on the school's career home run list.
NIACC's Vanessa Koehler was 2 for 3 and scored a run.
NIACC's Brynn Stalberger (2-4) took the loss. She struck out five and walked three.
Ashlynn Sheets gained the win for the Warriors. She allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
NIACC (20-16) returns to action Saturday at home against Northeast CC in an ICCAC twinbill. The Trojans' home opener starts at 1 p.m.
