MASON CITY - The No. 21 NIACC softball team swept Iowa Lakes Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC doubleheader as fourth-year coach Matt Egger gained his 100th win as coach of the Trojans.
NIACC (29-19 overall, 13-9 in the ICCAC) won the opener 3-2 in nine innings with Egger picking up his 100th win at NIACC. The Trojans won the second game 7-0 with sophomore right-hander Macy Kellar pitching a four-hit shutout.
Egger now has a NIACC record of 101-90.
In the first game, Ella Trenkamp drove in the winning run for the Trojans with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Sophomore right-hande Izzy Sloan (14-8) gained the win in the circle for the Trojans. Sloan scattered seven hits, allowed two earned runs and struck out 10.
NIACC's Ally Wall was 2 for 4, including a double and home run. Trenkamp was also 2 for 4.
Sloan, Camryn Dilla and Kaitlin Blair also had hits for the Trojans.
In the second game, Kellar (12-7) picked up her second straight shutout. She struck out three and walked two in holding the Lakers scoreless.
Kellar also shutout Ellswoth on Friday as the Trojans won 15-0 in five innings. Kellar now has five shutouts this season and eight for her career.
NIACC's Makayla Wirkus was 2 for 3, including a home run, with two RBIs. Blair was 2 for 3.
Also for the Trojans, Mya Bunkers had a double and two RBIs, Sloan also had a double and two RBIs.
Trenkamp and Thea Mattson also had singles for the Trojans.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against Hawkeye CC on the NIACC campus. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
