MASON CITY - The No. 16 NIACC softball team split a non-conference twinbill Thursday on the NIACC campus.
Iowa Western (22-12 overall) won the first game, 13-3, in five innings.
NIACC (23-15) took the second game 6-5 in nine innings with a two-run walkoff home run by freshman Katie Riesselman.
Iowa Western scored a single run in the top of the ninth inning to take a brief 6-5 lead setting the stage for Riesselman's heroics.
Sophomore right-hander Izzy Sloan gained the win in relief for the Trojans. Sloan tossed the last 2 2/3 inning allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.
Riesselman was 2 for 3, including a double and home run, with three RBIs and two walks. Camryn Dilla was 3 for 4, Kaitlin Blair had a home run with two RBIs and Thea Mattson was 2 for 3.
In the first game for the Trojans, Makayla Wirkus and Ally Wall both drove in runs.
Wirkus, Wall, Elle Trenkamp and Camryn Dilla all had singles for the Trojans.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC twinbill at Ellsworth. The first game in Iowa Falls is slated to start at 1 p.m.
