KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The No. 17 NIACC softball team swept a doubleheader from NDSCS on Tuesday.
NIACC (9-9) won the first game 6-3 and completed the sweep with a 8-1 win in the second game.
In the first game, NIACC scored single runs in the first and third innings and plated four runs in the fourth inning.
Freshman Mya Bunkers powered the Trojan offense with two home runs and four RBIs. Ally Wall and Ella Trenkamp drove in the other two runs for the Trojans.
Maren Sauvageau gained the win for the Trojans in the circle. She allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in five innings of work. Macy Kellar gained the save by pitching a scoreless sixth and seventh innings allowing no hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
In the second game, the Trojans scored six runs in the fourth innings and pushed across two runs in the fifth frame.
Thea Mattson was 2 for 3, including a double, with three RBIs for the Trojans. Katie Riesselman was 3 for 4, including a triple, with two RBIs.
Izzy Sloan gained the complete-game win for the Trojans in the circle. She allowed one run (unearned) on five hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in a doubleheader against Labette CC. The twinbill in Parsons, Kan. begins at 2 p.m.
