
Trojans ranked 16th in latest poll
- NIACC ranked for 8th straight poll
- Trojans open league play 7-3
- Trojans face DMACC Wednesday at home
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA Division II poll released on Monday.
NIACC (22-12 overall, 7-3 in the ICCAC) swept Iowa Lakes and Northeast CC in doubleheaders and dropped a twinbill to No. 12 Kirkwood.
St. Johns River State College (37-9) is ranked No. 1 and Murray State College (33-1) is ranked No. 2.
Other ICCAC teams in the March 31 rankings are No. 7 DMACC (33-4), No. 12 Kirkwood (30-10) and No. 17 Iowa Central (26-5).
It is the eighth consecutive poll this season that the Trojans have been in the national rankings. The Trojans were ranked as high as No. 14 in the March 17 and March 24 polls.
NIACC, which sits in a three-way tie for second place in the ICCAC, opens its home season Wednesday at home against DMACC. The first game on the NIACC campus is slated to start at 2 p.m.
