
Trojans split with Tritons
FORT DODGE - The No. 14 NIACC softball team split a twinbill with No. 19 Iowa Central Friday at Harlan Rogers Park.
NIACC won the first game 9-0 for its 11th straight win as sophomore right-hander Izzy Sloan (8-3) tossed a complete-game shutout. Iowa Central won the second game 8-3.
In the first game, NIACC scored seven runs in the third inning and plated two insurance runs in the seventh frame.
Sloan also had three hits and an RBI in the opener.
Also for the Trojans in game one, Ally Wall, Camryn Dilla, Kaitlin Blair and Thea Mattson all had two hits. Wall drove in two runs and Dilla, Blair and Mattson all drove in a run.
In the second game, Mya Bunkers had two hits, including a double. Trenkamp, Dilla and Mattson all had RBIs.
The first game victory for NIACC was head coach Matt Egger's 90th victory at NIACC. Egger, who is in his fourth season, has a NIACC record of 90-81.
NIACC (18-10 overall, 3-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in a doubleheader at Iowa Lakes. The first game in Estherville is slated to start at 2 p.m.
