
NIACC's Bunkers earns ICCAC honor
MASON CITY - NIACC freshman Mya Bunkers was selected as the ICCAC Division II softball player of the week for the week of Feb. 10-16.
Bunkers, a shortstop is from Remsen, was 10 for 15 with four home runs, three doubles, 15 RBIs and 10 runs scored as the No. 24 Trojans opened their season by going 3-1 at the Branson Juco Jam in Branson, Mo. In a 34-7 win over Mineral Area College, Bunkers was 3 for 4 with a home run, double and seven RBIs.
Bunkers is the first NIACC player to earn ICCAC softball player of the week honors since all-American Katy Olive won the award April 15-21, 2024. It is the 15th time in head coach Matt Egger's tenure that a Trojan has earned player of the week honors.
The Trojans return to action Feb. 28 in a doubleheader against Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in At Perkinston, Miss.
