ESTHERVILLE - The No. 15 NIACC softball team swept an ICCAC doubleheader from Iowa Lakes on Thursday.
NIACC (20-10 overall, 5-1 in the ICCAC) hit five home runs and topped Iowa Lakes 15-3 in six innings in the first game and sophomore right-hander Macy Kellar tossed a two-hit shutout as the Trojans won the second game 12-0 in five innings.
In the first game, NIACC's Mya Bunkers was 4 for 5, including a double and home run, with four RBIs. The Trojans' Thea Mattson was 2 for 4, including two home runs with five RBIs.
The Trojans' Ally Wall was 2 for 5, including two home runs, with three RBIs. The Trojans' Kaitlin Blair was 3 for 4, including a double, with one RBI.
Sophomore right-hander Izzy Sloan (9-3) gained the win in the circle for the Trojans. Sloan scattered six hits, alllowed three runs and picked up seven strikeouts.
In the second game, Kellar (7-4) struck out six in collecting her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career.
Katie Riesselman powered the Trojan offense by going 2 for 3, including a double and home run, with five RBIs. Ellie Trenkamp was 2 for 2, including a home run.
Also for the Trojans, Camryn Dilla was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Mattson was 2 for 3, including a home run, and Ally Wall was 3 for 4 with an RBI.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Hawkeye CC in Hudson. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
