BRANSON, Mo. - The No. 24 NIACC softball team picked up a pair of wins Saturday at the Branson Juco Jam.
NIACC (3-1 overall) topped Mineral Area College 34-7 in five innings and also stopped Neosho County CC 15-3 in five innings.
The 34 runs against Mineral Area College is the most by the Trojans in the Matt Egger era. The previous high for runs scored in a game in the Egger era was 29 runs in a 29-0 win over Ellsworth in the first game of a doubleheader on April 4, 2024.
The two wins on Saturday were the 74th and 75th for Egger, who now has a career record of 75-72.
In the win over Mineral Area College, NIACC's Mya Bunkers was 3 for 4, inlcuding a double and home run, with seven RBIs and scored five runs. The last time a NIACC player had seven RBIs in a game was Madisyn Bauer against Iowa Lakes in the second game of a doubleheader on April 10, 2024.
Bunkers was one of four Trojans that hit home runs against Mineral Area College. Also homering were Ella Trenkamp, Camryn Dilla and Dilynn VanMeter.
NIACC's Katie Riesselman and VanMeter both drove in four runs. Trenkamp and Dilla both had three RBIs.
In the win over Neosho County CC, Bunkers was 4 for 4, including two doubles and a home run, drove in four runs and scored three runs. Trenkamp was 2 for 4, including a double and home run, drove in five runs and scored two runs.
Ally Wall also homered for the Trojans against Neosho County CC.
NIACC's Macy Kellar gained the win and improved to 2-0 on the young season. Kellar, a sophomore right-hander, allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in four innings of work. Kellar struck out five and walked one.
