
NIACC softball team ranked 16th
- Trojans off to 3-1 start
- Trojans move up 8 spots from preseson poll
- NIACC faces 3 ranked teams this weekend
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA Division II poll released Monday.
The Trojans (3-1 overall) were No. 24 in the preseason poll that was released on Jan. 21.
Jones College (18-3) is ranked No. 1 and Murray State College (16-0) is ranked No. 2. DMACC (6-1) is ranked fourth and Kirkwood (9-3) is ranked ninth.
NIACC owns wins over No. 19 Johnson County (10-9), Mineral Area College (34-7 in 5 innings) and Neosho County CC (15-5 in 5 innings). The Trojans' lone loss was a 8-1 decision to Crowder College.
NIACC returns to action this weekend against three rated teams in Mississippi. The Trojans face No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast in a doubleheader on Friday, No. 15 Pearl River CC in a twinbill on Saturday and top-ranked Jones College in a pair of games on Sunday.
