Trojans ranked 17th in latest poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked 17th in the latest NJCAA Division II poll released on Monday.
NIACC (3-7 overall) dropped three doubleheaders last week to three rated teams (No. 1 Jones College, No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast and No. 16 Pearl River CC).
NIACC was ranked No. 16 in last week's poll and the Trojans were No. 24 in the preseason poll released on Jan. 21.
DMACC (9-2) is ranked fourth and Kirkwood (12-4) is ranked ninth.
NIACC returns to action Friday with a pair of games against Kansas City (Kan.) CC and McCook CC. The Trojans face Kansas City (Kan.) CC at 10 a.m. in Kansas City, Kan. and face McCook CC at 2 p.m. in Overland Park, Kan.
Notes: NIACC's Mya Bunkers, who is hitting .531, has 8 home runs, 5 doubles and 22 RBIs ... Ella Trenkamp has 3 home runs, 2 doubles and 11 RBIs ... Ally Wall has 2 home runs ... Katie Riesselman has 9 RBIs.
