MASON CITY - The No. 14 NIACC softball team bowed out of the NJCAA Region 11-B tournament Saturday with a pair of losses.
NIACC (36-13) dropped a 5-3 decision to DMACC in the regional semifinals and then fell to Iowa Lakes 5-2 in an elimination game.
No. 17 DMACC (46-10) faces Iowa Lakes (35-18) at noon on Sunday in the regional title game. If Iowa Lakes wins the noon game, a second winner-take-all title game will be played at 2 p.m.
In the game against DMACC, the Bears scored a single run in the first inning, plated three runs in the fourth frame and pushed across an insurance run in the seventh inning.
NIACC scored single runs in the first, third and seventh innings.
NIACC's Katy Olive was 3 for 4, including two doubles, with an RBI. Brynnlin Kroymann was 2 for 3, including a double, and two RBIs and Emily Jones was 1 for 2.
Against Iowa Lakes, NIACC took a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning, but the Lakers scored four runs to take a 5-2 lead.
Kroymann reached on a one-out single in the seventh inning for the Trojans but she was stranded at first base.
NIACC scored a run in the third inning on a RBI single by Sydney Toman scoring Kroymann. Shaye Theobald scored a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kroymann.
Kroymann and Theobald both had two hits for the Trojans.
