BOONE - For the second straight day, the NIACC softball team split an ICCAC twinbill with No. 3 DMACC on Saturday.
NIACC topped DMACC 8-2 in the second game after dropping a 12-11 nine-inning decision in the opener. On Friday, DMACC won the first game 10-4 while the Trojans took the second game 6-5.
In the second game Saturday, NIACC's Brynn Stalberger (6-4) gained the win in the circle by holding the Bears to two runs on five hits.
Shaye Theobald provided half of the Trojan offense with a grand slam.
Also for the Trojans, Laken Lienhard was 2 for 3, including a double, with an RBI. Sydney Toman was 3 for 3 and Ravyn Krachey was 1 for 3 with a double.
In the first game, NIACC hit five home runs, including two each from Lienhard and Emily Jones. Toman also homered for the Trojans.
Lienhard now has 22 career home runs, which ranks second on the school's career home run list. The all-time leader is Kaci Sherwood (2018-19) with 24.
NIACC (18-8 overall, 2-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action April 1-2 in a four-game series at home against Iowa Central.
