FORT SCOTT, Kan. - The No. 18 (NJCAA Division II) NIACC softball team split a doubleheader with Fort Scott CC on Tuesday.
NIACC (15-5) won the first game 11-0 in five innings and Fort Scott CC won the second game 3-2.
In the first game, NIACC sophomore right-hander Laken Lienhard (6-1) tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
NIACC hit five home runs in the opener, including two from Sydney Toman. Brynnlin Kroymann, Katy Olive and Emily Jones also homered for the Trojans.
In the second game, Olive hit a solo home run. Taya Tucker was 2 for 3 with a RBI.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday with a pair of games in Overland Park, Kan. The Trojans play Indian Hills at 1 p.m. and Johnson County CC at 3 p.m.
