NIACC's Krachey earns NJCAA player of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore Ravyn Krachey has been selected as the NJCAA Division II softball player of the week for the week of Feb. 20-26.
Krachey, who was also the ICCAC Division II player of the week, is the first NIACC player to earn the national award since the Trojans' Kristen Peka was selected as the NJCAA Division II pitcher of the week for the week of Feb. 18-24, 2019.
Krachey, a third baseman from Wauzeka, Wis., was 10 for 12 (.833), including six doubles, with 12 RBIs in NIACC's six wins last weekend at the Southeastern Turf Tournament.
Krachey is hitting .682, which ranks third in NJCAA Division II, with seven doubles and 19 RBIs.
Krachey, along with softball teammate Laken Lienhard, will participate in the inaugural NJCAA Women's Wrestling National Championships Friday and Saturday in Council Bluffs. Lienhard is the top-ranked wrestler at 143 pounds and Krachey is ranked seventh at 170 pounds.
No. 17 NIACC (10-0) returns to action Sunday at Iowa Western.
