MASON CITY - The No. 17 NIACC softball team swept Ellsworth in an ICCAC twinbill on Friday afternoon on the NIACC campus.
NIACC topped Ellsworth 14-1 in five innings in the first game and blanked the Panthers 13-0 in five innings in the second game.
In the first game, NIACC's Brynn Stalberger gained the win in the circle. She allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in five innings of work.
NIACC's Brianna McPoland was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Katy Olive stole three bases and Laken Lienhard was 2 for 2, including two doubles, with one RBI.
In the second game, Lienhard (14-2) tossed a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts and two walks. It was the seventh shutout of the season for Lienhard and ninth of her career.
Brynnlin Kroymann and Sydney Toman both had three hits and Lienhard and Emily Jones both had two hits.
NIACC (28-8 overall, 12-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action Sunday in a non-league doubleheader at Indian Hills. The Trojans will wrap up their four-game series at home against Ellsworth on Monday.
