OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The No. 18 NIACC softball team split a pair of non-conference contests on Wednesday.
The Trojans nipped No. 19 (NJCAA Division I) Indian Hills 2-1 and dropped a 5-1 decision to Johnson County CC.
In the first game against Indian Hills, sophomore right-hander Laken Lienhard tossed a two-hitter allowing a single run with seven strikeouts to edge the Warriors. Lienhard now has 206 career strikeouts, which ranks second on the school's career list.
Lienhard was also 2 for 3, including a home run a double, at the plate. The home run was the 20th of Lienhard's career, which is tied for third on the school's career list.
Also for the Trojans, Brianna McPoland was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Ravyn Krachey was 1 for 2.
NIACC returns to action March 25-26 at home against No. 3 DMACC in a four-game series in its ICCAC opener.
