
NIACC returns to rankings at No, 20
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings released Monday.
NIACC, which received votes in the March 20 poll, split a four-game series with then No. 3 DMACC last weekend.
On Friday, DMACC won the first game 10-4 and NIACC took the second game 6-5. On Saturday, the Bears won the opener 12-11 in nine innings and the Trojans took the second game 8-2.
NIACC (18-8 overall, 2-2 in the ICCAC) entered the 2023 rankings at No. 17 in the Feb. 27 poll. The Trojans were 15th in the March 6 poll and 18th in the March 13 rankings.
In this week's poll, Murray State (30-0) is ranked No. 1 and Phoenix (28-6) is ranked second.
DMACC (21-5, 6-2) is ranked third and Kirkwood (21-6, 6-0) is ranked seventh.
