Trojans place 4th at districts
COUNCIL BLUFFS - The NIACC men's wrestling team placed fourth Sunday at the NJCAA North Central District Championships with 103.5 points.
Indian Hills was the district champion with 154.5 points. Iowa Central was second with 149 points and Iowa Western was third with 118.5 points.
NIACC sophomore Emmanuel Celestin, who is ranked ninth, placed second at 165 pounds. Celestin dropped a 12-5 decision to Iowa Central's Kaden King in the title match.
NIACC's Luis Acevedo, who is ranked eighth, placed third at 125 pounds. Acevedo picked up a 15-0 technical fall over Iowa Lakes' Dominic Chimeno in the third-place match.
NIACC's Jessey Colas, who is ranked fifth, placed third at 184 pounds. Colas picked up a 17-0 technical fall over Iowa Lakes' Etheend Deyampert in the third-place match.
The Trojans' Macray Klohs, who is ranked eighth, placed third at 197 pounds. Klohs gained a 18-3 technical fall over Iowa Western's Kolby Scott in the third-place match.
Klohs dropped a 2-0 decision to Indian Hills' Andrew Marquez in the true second-place match.
The Trojans' Hansel Pompa placed fourth at 157 pounds.
The Trojans' Alejandro Rodriguez (133), McKenley Charelus (141) and Xander Kenworthy (285) all placed fifth. Cordell White (149) and Jonathan Krogman (174) placed sixth.
The Trojans will compete in the NJCAA Division I national tournament on March 7-8 in Council Bluffs.
