
NIACC men's wrestling team ranked 7th
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's wrestling team is ranked seventh in the first NJCAA Division I rankings released on Friday.
North Idaho is ranked No. 1 in the first poll of the season and Fort Hays NW is ranked second.
Indian Hills is ranked third, Southeastern CC is sixth and Iowa Central is 10th.
In the individual NJCAA rankings, NIACC's Cordell White is ranked No. 1 at 149 pounds. White placed third at the national tournament last season at 149 pounds.
Also for the Trojans, McKenley Charelus is ranked seventh at 133 pounds, Emmanuel Celestin is ranked fourth at 165 pounds, Jessey Colas is ranked fifth at 184 pounds and Xander Kenworthy is ranked sixth at 285 pounds.
Charelus, Celestin, Colas and Kenworthy were all national qualifiers as freshmen.
At last Saturday's Luther Hill Invitational at Simpson College, White claimed the 149-pound freshman/sophomore title and Colas claimed the 184-pound freshman/sophomore title.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Luther College Open in Decorah.
