NIACC stops Iowa Western, 33-14
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's wrestling team wrapped up its dual meet season with a 33-14 victory over Iowa Western Wednesday in the NIACC recreation center.
NIACC, which improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the ICCAC, won five of the eight contested matches. The Trojans gained technical falls from sophomore Emmanuel Celestin (165) and Macray Klohs (197).
At 165 pounds, Celestin (12-7) gained a 16-1 technical fall over the Reivers' Josiah Taylor.
At 197 pounds, Klohs (15-4) gained a 20-4 technical fall over the Reivers' Kolby Scott.
Other winners for the Trojans Wednesday were Hansel Pompa (157), Jessey Colas (184) and Xander Kenworthy (285).
Pompa (13-6) gained a 15-3 major decision over Iowa Western's Justin Lee.
Colas (17-3) picked up a 13-0 major decision over the Reivers' Omar Palmer.
At 285 pounds, Kenworthy (14-10) edged the Reivers' Orion Parker, 3-2.
NIACC returns to action Feb. 16 at the NJCAA North Central District Tournament in Council Bluffs.
