NIACC's Colas earns ICCAC wrestler of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore Jessey Colas was selected as the ICCAC wrestler of the week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
Colas, a national qualifer as a freshman, won five matches on his way to the 184-pound championship in the freshman/sophomore division at the Luther Hill Invitational at Simpson College last Saturday. Colas won two matches by technical fall and one by major decision.
Colas edged Southeast CC's Isaac White 4-2 in the championship match.
Colas moved his career mark to 21-4 with one fall, six technical falls and one major decision.
Colas is the first NIACC wrestler to win the ICCAC weekly award since Christian Minto earned the award for the week of Feb. 7-13, 2022.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Luther College Open in Decorah.
