
NIACC's Hanna, Byars earn all-region honors
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomores Ellie Hanna and Kit Byars both earned all-NJCAA Region 11 Division II volleyball honors, which were released by the ICCAC on Thursday.
Hanna, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Lake Mills, was a second-team all-region selection. Byars, a 6-0 middle blocker from Lake Mills, was an honorable mention all-region selection.
Hanna led the Trojans with 137 blocks, which ranks second on the school's single-season blocks list since the 2010 season. Hanna also had 183 kills and 63 digs.
Hanna had 243 career blocks, which ranks second on the school's career blocks list. She also had 355 career kills, which ranks 26th on the school's career kills list.
Byars collected 122 blocks during her sophomore season, which ranks sixth on the school's single-season list. She also had 138 kills.
Byars had 256 career blocks, which ranks 1st on the school's career list. Byars finished her two-year NIACC career with 295 career kills.
Kirkwood's Kaci Johnson was the regional player of the year. The Eagles' Kaci Johnson was the freshman of the year and the Eagles' Dave Brown was the coach of the year.
