
NIACC falls to Hawkeye CC on sophomore night
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Hawkeye CC Wednesday night in an ICCAC match in the NIACC gym.
Hawkeye CC (10-24 overall, 3-8 in the ICCAC) won 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 26-24.
It was sophomore night for the Trojans, who finished the season with a record of 11-24, 3-8.
The Trojans honored six sophomores Addison Tabbert, Alicia Machacek, Kelly Miller, Ellie Hanna, Kit Byars, Alana Burton and Emily Opstvedt and sophomore manager Alexis Schroeder.
"It was a bittersweet night to celebrate and be thankful to our amazing sophomores," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "They leave their mark on NIACC volleyball and our culture through their hard work, leadership and perseverance."
NIACC was led by freshman Emma Miller with nine kills, nine digs, two blocks and one ace serve. Burton had six kills, two digs and one block.
Opstvedt had 18 assists and six digs and Kenedee Frayne had 18 assists, five digs and two ace serves.
Also for the Trojans Kinsey Anderson had 27 digs and four ace serves, Tabbert had five kills, 13 digs, two ace serves and two blocks and Destiny Reasner had five digs and one kill.
Hanna had six kills and five blocks, Byars had five kills and five blocks and Megan Tobin had three kills.
