NIACC falls to Southeastern, 3-1
WEST BURLINGTON - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Southeastern CC Wednesday in an ICCAC contest.
Southeastern won 25-13, 28-26, 23-25, 25-16.
"Once again, I feel like the team struggled to start with confidence, as well, as finish sets," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We put together a few strong rallies but not enough to help the success, especially in our strong ICCAC conference."
Freshman Hannah Brinkman led the Trojans with 11 kills, three blocks and two digs. Sophomore Ellie Hanna had eight blocks, four kills, two digs, two assists and one ace serve.
Also for the Trojans, Megan Tobin had eight kills, four digs and four blocks. Emily Opstvedt had 21 assists and eight digs.
NIACC's Kenedee Frayne had 14 assists, five digs and one ace serve, Kinsey Anderson had 11 digs and five assists and Addison Tabbert h ad nine digs and two kills.
The Trojans' Alicia Machacek had six kills, two digs and two blocks, Kit Byars had five blocks and two kills and Alana Burton had two blocks and one kill.
NIACC (9-15 overall) returns to action Saturday at its home tournament. The Trojans play the Grand View Junior Varsity at 11 a.m. and face the St. Ambrose Junior Varsity at 3 p.m.
