Trojans fall to No. 2 Kirkwood
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 2 Kirkwood Thursday night in the NIACC gym.
Kirkwood (26-5 overall, 9-0 in the ICCAC) won 25-16, 25-17, 25-23.
"We are super proud of the team for not allowing Tuesday (a 3-1 loss at Iowa Lakes) to define how we played (Thursday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We did a good job adjusting to things across the net while focusing on sticking to our fundamentals."
NIACC freshman Emma Miller had six kills, 10 digs, three blocks and one ace serve. Megan Tobin had five kills and two digs and Hannah Brinkman had four kills and one block.
Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 10 digs, Addison Tabbert had four digs and three ace served, Ellie Hanna had three blocks and one ace serve and Kenedee Frayne had eight assists, six digs and three ace serves.
The Trojans' Kit Byars had three blocks and two kills, Emily Opstvedt had nine assists, four digs and one ace serve and Alana Burton had two kills and one block.
NIACC (11-18, 3-6) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC match at DMACC.
